What is HSP?

HSP is a script language system to use easily. Anyone can build a menu system or show some pictures on a window. Only writing a script in text. Mastering various commands , you can make CG album , music album , demonstration and game application.



HSP has following features.

System Requirement

Microsoft Windows 95 / 98 / Me
Microsoft Windows NT3.51 or later ( including 2000 and XP )

HSP is a 32bits application. It runs Windows95 or later or WindowsNT It was checked running on PC98 and DOS/V.
It needs display which can show resolution 640x480 or over and 256 colors or more than. Necessary amount of memory is varied by showing pictures and so on.
HSP can run by itself. It is not necessary to install other DLLs or runtimes.

Install and Demonstration

Execute a self extraction file(HSPxxx.EXE) and extract to a directory which you want to install. You may see main part of HSP , HSP Script Editor(HSED2.EXE) , some tools , documents such as these manuals , sample scripts and its data in the directory.

At first try executing HSP2.EXE in the extracted directory. Then the sample demonstration of HSP will start.
Actually this demo is running on HSP. To choose a item from menu shows you various demoes.

HSP isn't compatible with other languages.(but HSP is almost like BASIC) And it isn't new language system.
What HSP aims is an old computer system.
Memory and speed of CPU of computer of old is poorer current one overwhelmingly. But when it is turn on , it immediately becomes a situation that it works. To type "RUN" on BASIC , in a moment , you can get outputs. It seems that easy system like that is losing in current one.
HSP doesn't have object-oriented and structured programing. But it has freeness that you can write in order which you want. And that is a useful way for pint-sized program development.

HSP isn't at all good at everything. If you want to do more advanced or large-scale development with interpreter, VisualBasic and Java are used to do so. I hope that HSP is very adaptable for handling that is unnecessary to use high-level languages like those.

Onion software has copyright of HSP development system and its manuals.
Onion software makes no warranty about any damages by this program. So it used on your own responsibility.

Main part of HSP is freeware. I let you reprint on network. But publishing and introduce on magazine , CD or other media needs to communicate with onion software.

You may freely display ,distribute and sale your application made with HSP system on communication , sotorefront , garage sale and so on without lisencing fee. And you don't have duty to display credit of onion software and what your application use HSP. Onion software doesn't claim our any copyrights to your original application made with HSP.

About development system( for example creation system for game ) made with HSP , author of the system acts his or her own responsibility. In this case , something made with the system isn't applied any copyright or license of HSP.

Don't use main part of HSP and development system on business without notice. You may take minimum amount of cost to distribute. That is for preventing somebody from making money where I don't know. So I take the precaution of doing so.(^^)
To avoid confusing about HSP's version , please write clearly where hspcmp.dll is available without distribute itself , if you distribute software using compiling function of main part of HSP(hspcmp.dll has).
Using in lesson at elementary school, junior high school and high school and distribution on club activities are not regard as on business. Then it is free to use HSP.
Please contact onion software, if a course with HSP at university , technical school ,special school and so on would be given or development with HSP would need some cost. Basically , with contact , I don't stop using on business. I would rather that HSP would become widely used

HSP and related tools is compiled with Microsoft Visual C++ 6.0.
